Orthotics Initial Consultation

IMPORTANT IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE: Before making this appointment, please call your insurance company and ask them these two questions:
1) Do you need a medical doctor's note in order to get covered by your insurance company?
2) Do you have to get your orthotics from a podiatrist or chiropodist for your insurance company to pay?
Getting the answers to these two questions will help save you time and prevent you from not getting reimbursed.

If you require orthotics, your initial examination is about 15 minutes long and consists of a consultation, a foot, arch and ankle examination as well as a computerized gait analysis of your walking pattern. The computerized gait analysis of 2 and 3D images or a foam cast may be used to create the custom made mold for your orthotics, which is then sent to a laboratory to become your customized pair of orthotics. A follow-up appointment is made when your orthotics arrive, in order to ensure comfort and fit.

Many extended health care plans cover orthotics. Please consult with your insurance provider. Click on the link below to see the breakdown of documents needed for each insurance company. We can provide these documents and help you complete your claim, however we suggest that you familiarize yourself with your personal policy.

TOG Customized Orthotics

A custom orthotic is a device designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They look like insoles, but are biomechanical medical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance. Custom orthotics work on your feet much like glasses work on your eyes - they reduce stress and strain on your body by bringing your feet back into proper alignment. The plastic body of the custom orthotic helps to re-align the foot by redirecting and reducing certain motion that takes place during the gait cycle. Custom orthotics fit into your shoes as comfortably as an insole - and they have the advantage of having been made from precise imprints of your feet.
Most insurance companies cover customized orthotics. $450 per pair and there’s no tax because they are a medical device.

The symptoms of poor foot mechanics can include any one of the following:

  • Localized foot pain
  • Bunions, hammer toes
  • Arch/heel pain
  • Leg/knee pain
  • Hip or back pain - even neck pain

Pre-Fabricated Orthotics

If your plan does not cover orthotics and you cannot afford the $450.00 pair, we do have other affordable options, such as pre-fabricated orthotics.
